QUOTE: "First Grímsvötn volcano erupted through a glacier. Then it exploded through the air. Finally, its debris changed the atmosphere so much that it blasted winter away from most of the US." END QUOTE
It sure did a good job of blasting winter away from the Northern Great Plains where I live. It was 67 degrees today. It's only the first week in March! We usually have a few below zero days this time of year, and most of our snow comes between January and April. I don't think that's gonna happen this year. Hasn't yet.
I hope we get some upper air winds to drive this ash and stuff to the ground and stop it from doing this again next year. We will need the moisture come early-mid summer. We've not had one decent wet snowfall this year at all; what little snow we've had has been mostly dry powdery snow and it doesn't stay around for more than 1/2 a day. Pathetic. Old Man Winter and Jack Frost are taking vacations this year. Guess they're busy in Siberia!
