I guess so! Who makes up this stuff, because it surely can't be true, can it?

One of the reader comments said "it stink of Monsanto". Hardly. Monsanto is after the bigger companies, not little backyard farmers. Besides, Monsanto already has it sewn up with the fact that they have bastardized the seeds for the veggies long ago. They couldn't care less. This is a local issue and it's the local people who are raising a stink and should be ashamed of themselves.

Where I live we support community farming and especially those who are organic in nature. But our farmers market leaves a lot to be desired. I've mentioned it before, I'm sure, but there are "no rules" to our farmers market. Anything goes. It's like a big rummage sale, because it isn't just food and/or produce that's for sale. But the produce for sale is not necessarily organic. That used to be a major thing with the FM was that the produce be organically home grown, although the word organic didn't play into society too much 10 years ago. We asked the farmer if they used herbicides or pesticides -- if they said no, we bought their stuff. Actuallly, 20 years ago we didn't even have to ask. It was grown with manured soil, garden hose water, chicken wire to cover the plants that the deer love to eat -- but that's it. No sprays or anything else, except maybe soap spray on the cabbage for worms/slugs. Otherwise it was fresh and REAL.

My how things change in 20 years of the "ME" generation for corporations.
