I don't know. I mean, I don't believe that hand sanitizers are a good thing, certainly not if they contain harmful ingredients. But nevertheless, we should not be discouraging the importance of washing our hands during cold and flu season. I agree with the writer -- germs travel through the air -- but they do that all the time. Shaking hands, wiping our noses, etc., should be followed by a thorough hand washing with plain soap (not necessarily anti-bacterial) to discourage passing germs around. Germs are just as present on our hands as they are in the air.

Say what you want, but I still think Aunt Bee and all the ladies from the 50's and 60's who wore white gloves, as a fashion statement, were doing far more than following the current fashion fads. They were preventing the spread of germs. We should take a lesson.
