Holy cats. It was hot and sticky this morning. Very hot and very sticky, to say the least. It started to cloud over about an hour ago and then a heavy, heavy rainstorm went through. The temperature dropped from 84° to 66° in less than 25 minutes. The rain and heavy, dark, gray clouds passed over and the sun came out again; now we are having a very weird thing happen. Steam is just rolling off the rooftops. At first I thought the neighbor's house was on fire because it looked more like thick smoke than steam. The neighbors are away right now and so I called out to DH, who was working in the garage, and he came rushing up to the deck to have a look-see. Nope, steam.

I then walked out to the front of our house and the sun nearly blinded me, but it was also rolling off the roof of our garage. How strange. It was so wet and heavy it was almost like snow.

Lordy bee I wish it would stop raining. We have had some amount of rain almost every day since mid-May. This is getting very, very old already. I love rain, the smell and the fresh feeling and the clean look of everything ... but enough already!

And now, on top of everything else, it's literally raining pine cones onto my deck!! They are huge and there are still thousands of them on the two huge pines in our back yard. Anybody want pine cones for some project? How about kindling for a fireplace? We can only use so many of them ourselves.

Just got back early this morning from my trip to Layton, Utah. I'm glad to be home, and especially glad to be home early in the day and beat the heat. We go from one extreme to the other around here. Last week it was downright cold. Today it's supposed to be almost 100. I'm going to try to get some shut-eye, then I'm going to help a friend who does transcription -- she overbooked herself and now can't finish a project. If she finishes one particular project by midnight tonight, the company will pay her a $300 bonus! I hate for her to lose out, so I'm going to do what I can. My eyes already feel like sandpaper, so I guess a few more hours without sleep won't hurt.
